Interested in playing Gridiron? Come along to the Seniors Meet and Greet. Sports attire recommended. See you there.
This year’s recipient of the annual Centurions Gridiron Club charity walk will be John Crispin. John Crispin is a founding member of the ACT Gridiron League and also founded both the Centurions and Tuggeranong Tornadoes. John is currently undergoing treatment for oesophagus cancer and to help John and Vicki we are raising funds for them to take a well-deserved break from Canberra (tick off a bucket list item).
All money raised will be going directly to him. Do yourself a favour and come on down and support a great cause and an amazing human being within ACT Gridiron.
If you can’t make the walk and still wish to make a donation they can be deposited into:
Account name: “Centurions Gridiron Club”.
Please put John or JC as the reference.
Thank you to everyone that attended the annual bridge to bridge to support David Hicks. An amazing time was had by all and over 150 people turned out raising a total of $3740!!!
The Centurions and Diamonds wish to thank everyone involved and wish David the best in recovery.
It was great to see a community get behind a worthy cause.
The lucky registration prize of a full gridiron sports pack donated from our good friends at South Pacific Pro Sports Supplies was won by Joanne Payne.
Also a big thank you to the Diamonds and Centurions players for there help in running the day.
CENTURIONS SENDING AND RECEIVING PLAYERS FROM AND TO AMERICA
The Centurions Gridiron Club is happy to announce the first ever player to be recruited from the United States to play in the local ACT Gridiron Competition.
Lars Bramer brings a wealth of experience to the Centurions having just completed four years at Fresno State University in California. Lars decided after finishing college to come to Canberra to help the Centurions by playing and mentoring senior, junior and women players.
Lars Bramer profile and information can be found at http://www.gobulldogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lars_bramer_460865.html
At the same time we are happy to announce that Grant ‘Frosty’ Frost will be leaving Canberra at the beginning on August to undertake a scholarship at Panhandle State University in Oklahoma. Grant has worked extremely hard over the past 7 years in the sport to finally achieve his goal. Grant has represented ACT and Australia in the past and is currently the faster Defensive back on the Australian team. Grant is also leaving a huge hole in the club as he was also the successful Junior Head Coach.
Finally we would like to wish good luck to our punter Christopher ‘CJ’ Laros who is returning to the Redbirds at Illinois State University to complete his senior year. Christopher has been back in Australia for a month now over the summer break and in that time has helped to mentor junior and senior players. Christopher will enter his senior year as one of the top punters in college football and will hopefully be attending NFL training camps at the end of the year. http://www.goredbirds.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/cj_laros_855936.html
